Power plant boiler refers to a large capacity boilers in a power plant that provides steam turbine with a specified quantity and quality. One of the main thermal equipment in thermal power plants. It is often matched with a certain capacity turbine generator set, which is mainly used for power generation, but it can also be used for external heating in some special situations.

In general, the boiler capacity is larger than ordinary industrial boilers, the steam parameters (steam temperature and steam pressure) are high, and used with a whole set of auxiliary equipment, the structure is more complex and the efficiency is higher. There are two main types of power plant boilers: pulverized coal furnace and circulating fluidized bed boiler. How to Choose the Suitable Boiler

Determine Boiler Capacity

Determine the superheated steam parameters of the boiler according to the requirements of the electric generation. Also, the boiler capacity should be matched to the steam turbine.

Determine Boiler Pressure

Generally, boiler pressure is always higher than the production of steam pressure, the reason is to overcome the pressure loss in the pipe or network. The actual production pressure plus the pressure drop required to overcome all pipe resistance plus a pressure margin of 25 to 30 percent is sufficient.

Determine Boiler Fuel

Both oil gas boiler and coal/biomass boiler could be used for power generation. Users have to consider the boiler fuel based on their specific situation including fuel cost and national environmental protection requirements.

Determine Boiler Structure

In addition to boiler output, working medium parameters, coal varieties three basic factors, there are other aspects such as external size, load volatility, water quality, air pollution, mechanization, automation degree, and the main and auxiliary machine selection.

Capacity and Model

If two or more boilers are needed, it’s better to select the boilers with same capacity or combustion equipment. If different, the max limitation is two models, to decrease the problems of equipment layout and management.
